Here’s a novel solution to government mandated art: Use student art from CMS and award the money to retain teachers. Or better yet: Eliminate the mandate entirely and quite wasting my hard earned dollars on silly toys.

Mark, it’s worth noting that for facilities like the proposed new jail in particular, the Citizens’ Capital Budget Committee recommended to the BOCC on a number of occasions that they waive the requirement for public art in instances where the nature of the facility, i.e., a jail, didn’t seem to align with the goal of the public art ordinance. The response?
