N.C. Tops In Nation

And not in a good way, according to a report by the National Conference of State Legislatures.

North Carolina ranks with Texas, New York and California as states that are projecting budget deficits larger than $1 billion next year, as federal stimulus handouts dry-up.

And that doesn’t include a potential double-whammy facing North Carolina, when tax increases adopted last year are set to expire next year, skyrocketing its projected budget shortfall to more than $3 billion.

So we have that going for us.
